Serve IT

The Serve IT nonprofit clinic offers students an opportunity to receive credit for I491 through a credit-based course that provides projects or service for local nonprofit agencies and support the clinic’s efforts to do this work.

Capstone students co-lead teams to work on projects that benefit local nonprofits, such as a website or database design and development, training, computer refurbishing, or teaching tech lessons to youth in afterschool clubs.

Eligibility & Application

  • Completion of 3 credits of INFO I391 within the clinic.
  • Be in good standing with the University and via prior credits within the clinic.
  • Must complete all core courses.
    • Students can have either I211 or I308 remaining, but the course must be taken as a corequisite with the first three credits of I491.

Application Process

Students often transition to I491 after working in the clinic the previous semester through the I391 course. Students are sent a form to indicate their interest in returning to complete the capstone requirement in the clinic. This form and previous evaluations will be used to determine eligibility. Students who have taken a break between I391 and the capstone experience should fill out the regular form online by the deadline date.

Students will be notified within approximately two weeks of the application deadline.
